Towards waterless operations from mine to mill

چکیده

To respond to the increased demand for commodities, volumes of primary ores need be mined. This could lead major challenges with water and tailings management since ore grades are low many mining operations take place in high stress areas. The current mineral processing methods used highly intensive and, consequently, there is increasing interest finding alternative solutions produce raw material concentrates using little or no water. Dry separation technologies capable efficient recovery commodities relatively rare dependent on materials separated. Low-grade complex require energy-efficient liberating material. Controlled optimisation rock fragmentation chain from blasting comminution can seen as a viable option reduce energy-intensive grinding. Application pre-concentration remove barren waste prior grinding, developing cost-efficient comminution, use mechanical chemical pre-treatment modifying surfaces replacing solvents leaching all good tools when considering change wet non-aqueous processing. Nevertheless, considerable multidisciplinary research, along new holistic, innovative required enable change.

Integrated Operations (Re-)Scheduling from Mine to Ship

Mining companies have complex supply chains that start from the mining location and stretch thousands of kilometers to the end customer in a different country and continent. The logistics of moving the materials from mines to ship is composed of series of optimization problems like berth allocation, ship scheduling, stockyard scheduling, and rail scheduling, which are individually NP-hard. In t...

Mine-to-mill optimisation: effect of feed size on mill throughput

Modifying blasting practices to achieve a more suitable mill feed size – which varies according to the crushing/grinding circuit – can achieve up to a 30% increase in throughput. Following an initial benchmarking of an operation’s practices, SRK can advise on how value-added blasting will deliver improvements in both mill capacity and overall consistency of performance. SRK employs modelling to...

From EGEE OPerations Portal towards EGI OPerations Portal

Grid operators in EGEE have been using a dedicated dashboard as their central operational tool, stable and scalable for the last 5 years despite continuous upgrade from specifications by users, monitoring tools or data providers. In EGEE-III, recent regionalisation of operations led the Operations Portal developers to conceive a standalone instance of this tool. We will see how the dashboard re...

Health Hazards for Uranium Mine and Mill Workers - Science Issues

"Many uranium miners have been disabled by and died of pulmonary fibrosis that was not recognized as an occupational disease. A review of animal studies, complications from whole body irradiation, pulmonary function, and mortality studies of uranium miners led us to suspect radiation-induced chronic diffuse interstitial fibrosis in miners who had inhaled excessive radon progeny. A selected grou...

A Review of Operations Research in Mine Planning

Applications of operations research to mine planning date back to the 1960s. Since that time, optimization and simulation, in particular, have been applied to both surface and underground mine planning problems, including mine design, longand short-term production scheduling, equipment selection, and dispatching, inter alia. In this paper, we review several decades of such literature with a par...
